Islam has bestowed all sort of basic human rights of its non-muslim subjects. They are provided religious rights. The non-muslim subjects are free to repair their worship places and to perform all their religious practices according to their own religion. They are free to celebrate their religious festivals in their own localities. They are even allowed to purchase and sell pork, and wine which are forbidden for the Muslims. It is the duty of Islamic state to protect their lives, honour and property. If anyone perpetrates offence against them, he is liable to be punished. In judicial matters, it is essential, that they are given impartial justice. In civil suits, they are treated according to their own personal laws.
The non-muslim subjects have been given the rights to own property. They are free to opt for any kind of profession. It is the duty of Islamic state to look after the poor and needy subjects of the state irrespective of their belief and creed. From non-muslim subjects, the Islamic state demands the fulfillment of three main conditions: they should not indulge in any conspiracy against the state; they should remain loyal to the state; and should live peacefully.
