Abstract

Diplomacy is a very old concept. Amongst nations and countries diplomacy has a very important role. This department has been existing long before Islam. There were agreements of war and pacts of peace and trade amongs people. This department became very solid in the period of the Holy Prophet (P.B.U.H). The Holy Prophet (P.B.U.H) established relations with the other rulers of different countries which were very much useful for the growth of Islam.
When Islam spread in Non-Arab countries the Islamic Diplomats displayed wonderful services in the time of Hazrat Umar (R.A.). Hazrat Umar (R.A) belonged to Banu Addi Tribe and this tribe was appointed as diplomats. For this reason Hazrat Umar (R.A) had been the Ambassador of the Holy Prophet(P.B.U.H) and Advisor of Hazrat Abu Bakar (R.A).He provided such principles of diplomacy for which it is difficult to get examples in the history with his knowledge, bravery and fearlessness.
