Abstract

Being a complete code of life, Islam lays special emphasis on the acquisition of knowledge. Quran says that for the prosperous life on earth, both kind of knowledge revealed and acquired, is necessary. That’s why, knowledge in Islam is considered as the greatest gift of Allah to man. However, his knowledge in Islam has certain conditions. Amongst them, love with the Holy prophet (SAW) compulsory. Teachings of Holy Prophet (SAW) truly guides a man to attain righteous and a prosperous life. Moreover, Hazrat Muhammad (S.A.W) has a set of rights on Muslim ummah, which is a guiding principle for all the Islamic societies. This set is relevant to the Islamic education which revolves round the very teachings of Holy Prophet (S.A.W).

Educational policy of Government of Pakistan Vis-à-vis of Islam’s emphasis on the development of Islamic spirit among the children so that a pious society could be established on sound footings. Keeping in view this basic point, this research article throws light on the syllabus of Islamiat designed by Sindh Textbook Board and AFAQ. A through study has been done to analyse the syllabus of Islamiat, it weaknesses and strengtheses, impact on students and its need in contemporary times.

This syllabus is analysed from class III to X and all its aspects have been discussed in detail. This syllabus has been designed keeping in view Islamic thoughts, teachings and practices and, thus, help to deal the children – spiritual intellectual, physical, social etc.
