Abstract

Hashim Shah (1735 - 1843) born at Madiinah (K.S.A.) and burried at Tharpaal district Narowal was accredited as the poet of Punjabi but he wrote in Persian, Urdu and Hindi as well. His works are being disseminated since 1871 when his first book entitled "Sassi Punnu" was published from Lahore. Later "Sheerin Farhaad", "Dohray" and other books are being published one after other and it lasts up till now. Some of his works are still unpublished. His Urdu Poetry especially Ghazals are unprinted so far. The poet is contemporary of Nazeer Akbarabadi. His these Ghazals are in the form of manuscripts and are in custody of the poet's descendant Mumtaz Ahmad Hashmi. The language used by Hashim Shah also have some impressions from other language of the region. Here these rare Ghazals are being presented to the researchers of the times.
