Abstract

This book review aims at highlighting contents of a brief autobiography Jahd-e Musalsal by Professor Muhammad Yosuf Zikria published by Pakistan Quran Centre in January 2020. The autobiography not only sheds light on the life of its writer in a lucid prose but also his family’s scholarly endeavors at Idara-e Taamir-e Millat Mansoorah Sindh. The autobiography reveals how the writer attracted to the ideology of Jamaat-e Islami and became later on its member (rukun). This was actually his father who took him to the sitting of Dars-e Quoran held weekly or fortnightly where he learned much from his mentors like Syed Munawar Hasan, Tasneem Alam Manzer, Dr Kamal and many more. He was lucky to learn from these people as no history of political struggle can be written without their contributions. He was Professor at Islamic Studies department of Balochistan University and he also associated with Pakistan International Airline as an Instructor. To give his readers the social and cultural milieu of his time, he shared many experiences of sightseeing at Karachi coastal areas. Leaving the city like Karachi for pursuing his education at Mansoorah, Sindh, he rightly pointed out his experiences of homesickness. The autobiography has much to offer its readers knowing various aspects of his time.
