Abstract

In the history of Pakistan, the policy of Industrial Nationalization had been initiated to reduce concentration of wealth in few families and to improve efficiency of Industry during the regime of Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto. But due to nepotism, corruption and disqualified manpower nationalization policy did not achieve the desired results. During 1980s denationalization policy was started which was a process of transfer of ownership of property or business from government to a private-owned entity. In 1990 Privatization commission had been set up and since 1992 to 2013, 167 units had been privatized. However, this policy had negative impact on the economy of Pakistan such as unemployment, monopoly in the market and concentration of wealth. Both policies nationalization and privatization did not prove to be truly successful for Pakistan economy. However, for the betterment of economy and masses, it is necessary to demonstrate privatization policy.
