Abstract

Khairuddin Barbaros was a great admiral of Ottoman Turks during the first half of sixteenth century. His real name was Khizr and was the son of a Rumeli Turkish Officer. He started his naval activities as pirate in the earliest sixteenth century. His main task was to support the Muslims of ended Muslim Spanish government. To achieve this task he did not only accepted Ottoman Supremacy but helped them to rule over the North Africa and the whole Mediterranean Sea. Suleyman the Magnificent declared him the admiral of Ottoman Navy. He made many reforms in the Ottomanic Naval System.
