Abstract

This study is carried out to verify certain references of the book titled “Quaid-e-Azam Challenge Secularism” (Urdu) compiled by Azad bin Haider. Reading of the book is worth to understand the propaganda of certain quarters, with vested interests, who intend to confuse the people of Pakistan especially the young generation about its Islamic ideological roots. Azad bin Haider has done a great service by compiling an encyclopaedic volume of Quaid’s views supported by authentic references to refute all the arguments of so called progressive elements who are overpowered by the western thoughts and continuously poison the minds of general public on the issue. In the book the reference regarding the relations of Quaid-e-Azam and Syed Abu-al-Ala Mawdudi struck the mind of writer of this article. This study revealed that the author has based the impression of bitter rivalry among both diehard advocates of establishment of an Islamic state in Pakistan by misinterpretation of their differences and ignoring the commonalities of their thoughts. It found, that although there were differences among both great leaders but they kept them under check, refuted jointly, the powerful propaganda of Hindus and nationalist Muslim leaders of United Nationalism (Muttahida Qaumiyat), complemented greatly the efforts of each other to secure and build Pakistan as an Islamic state based on the principles of Quran and Sunnah.
