Abstract

This study is done to explore and highlight ‘The philosophy of Rule in the state of Medina’ as established by Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and maintained by Khulafa e Rashideen. Pre- Islamic Arabia was a land of tribes and there was no established centralized government. The tribes were at war amongst them perpetually. The prophet (PBUH) built a new political order based on Islam. It was different from the pre-Islamic tribal political system. It was based on the universal principle of Islamic fraternity and for all times. Khulafa e Rashideen followed the prophet’s sunnah. They not only maintained it but expanded it over half of the world. In the following lines, all those features are discussed which explain the nature of rule in the state of Medina. The unique character of the philosophy of rule in medina’ is that it is today as practicable in a modern Muslim state as it was practiced fourteen hundred sixty years ago by Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and Khulafa e Rashideen in the state of Medina.
